Simon departs W-League side after three seasons

A leader on and off the field, established Matilda and Melbourne City star Kyah Simon departs the club after three seasons in blue.

Simon joined City in 2017/18 and has since won two W-League titles with the club that she’s made an invaluable contribution to.

Her elite finishing and dangerous offensive movement has seen the forward score 10 goals in 31 appearances, through which Simon has battled multiple injuries over the years.

A move to one of the top European leagues is expected of the forward, following a trend of similar moves by top-tier Australians in recent weeks, though her ultimate destination is not yet known.

The star Matilda sat down with Talking City in January for an episode of the Beyond Football podcast, in which the 28-year-old described her injury setbacks as an undeniable, unchangeable part of her story; an attitude which defines the character of one of Australia’s most inspirational football people.

You can read a condensed version of the conversation here, or listen to the entire Beyond Football episode in-full here.
